From the Producer
Two hundred years ago, six brothers came to East Tennessee from England and settled down, got married, and proceeded to create a Good Old Southern Family. In the 1960's, two girls were born into that family, which by that time had branched out into Georgia. Temporarily. The late 1970's found the girls moving to Tennessee, where they lived for many happy Southern years.
Then tragedy struck. Fate intervened and snatched the smart sister out of East Tennessee and plunked her in the middle of a desert. And this was no 40-days-and-40-nights, living-on-locusts-and-scorpions-and-cactus-scraps, prayerful sojourn. Oh, no, this was Las Vegas, the city of lights, sin, and infamy -- and one sister has to live there, far from the charms (and the humidity) of the Sunny South.
Just -- for a second -- try to wrap your brain around the culture shock that could have ensued for the Southern sister who had to move.
Thank heaven, technology has advanced a great deal since our forefathers landed on this continent, and the two sisters are able to keep in touch via email, blogs, and the ubiquitous cell-phones-with-hands-free-headsets. And they still make each other laugh out loud on a daily basis.
Yea, verily, and Grits to Glitz was born. We aren't afraid to have an opinion (although we'll probably be polite about it -- it's a Southern thing), and we love chick stuff. Movies, Las Vegas shows, shoes, books, TV, food -- all of these and more will be fodder for our podcast!
